Some of you know, many of you don't but with sadness I need to let you know that Adair passed away on December 16th. I am sorry that I haven't updated since September. Things have been really tough the last couple of months and unbearable the last 13 days. I am posting the obituary below and will try to give more info as to what happened when I feel stronger. Again, I'm really sorry if this comes as a shock to anyone! God Bless and please continue to pray for our children. This has been tough on them...

On the evening of December 16, 2009 Adair peacefully passed away surrounded by his family and friends. He fought cancer so courageously for nearly two years and has now found peace.

Adair touched the hearts and lives of so many people. His strength and positive outlook were amazing. He quickly became a favorite of the staff and nurses of Doctor’s Medical Center. Adair had dreams of going back to school for either social work or psychology. He was a great listener and was passionate about helping others.

Adair graduated from Atwater High School in 2000 and worked at Savemart Warehouse and BMC West in Merced before his illness.

Adair is survived by his wife Misty, his children Jade, Cheyenne, Kaleb, Joseph & Matthew, his mother-in-law Charlotte Wohlenberg, his aunt Beatrice Hildreth, his best friend Ian Peterson, his parents Mitchell & Delores Hildreth, his siblings Bryce, Mitch & Clarissa and by many other family & friends.

Please join us for a celebration of Adair’s life on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Fellowship Church in Atwater (corner of Shaffer/Juniper). A reception will follow at the church hall.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the care Adair received at California Cancer Care and Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto. A special thanks to Dr. Mussa Banisadre. You were a fantastic doctor and offered great support through this journey!

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or other charity of your choice.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that Adair is back in the hospital for another round of chemo (his 19th I believe) ugh! He's doing really well considering. His HCG count came down to 45 after the last round which is AWESOME! (remember it had gone up to over 2500). We just keep praying that something will give and one of these treatments will finally knock this stuff out!

Not too much else is going on around here. The boys started school a few weeks ago which has been nice. It gives Adair and me a little more quiet time. It's also giving me time to try to convince Cheyenne that now would be a great time to potty train. She doesn't think so... ;)

So hopefully I will have some great news to post soon. Until then please keep praying for my husband! God bless...

More Changes...

So last time I posted I let you know that Adair's treatment would be changing. Well... it's changed again. The plan was that Adair would receive chemo once a week for a few weeks. That didn't go over so well because he only ended up getting chemo once in 3 weeks due to low blood counts. He went in for his regular appointment on Monday and was told to go home and pack some stuff because he was being admitted to the hospital as his HCG level rose to over 2500 (I can't even remember the last time it was so high so I've been a little frazzled over that). Adair and I both know that we should never get our hopes up because setbacks have happened every step of the way through this journey!! It's just so sad and frustrating having to drop him back at the hospital AGAIN for another 6 days! He's taking it in stride like he usually does. God I love that man. He is so strong!

The plan is that he is now getting the old chemo regimen this week and it will hopefully get in there and get his HCG level down again and then the doctor wants to try going back to the once a week plan. Who knows... All I care about at the moment is for Sunday to get here so I can have my husband back home!

In other news, we added 2 new kittens to the family. Adair has wanted a cat for a really long time and we kept putting it off because of health concerns but he has decided that he is going to LIVE while he's ALIVE so we got the kittens for his birthday. They are brother and sister and they are CRAZY. They have provided much entertainment for us, oh, and they have knocked over my plants, my lamps, and completely ruined my curtains in the dining room because they like to climb them, but it's ok, we love 'em! Adair named the boy Stormy and I named the girl Bridget, after Bridget Jones :).

Congrats Kaleb!

Kaleb graduated 8th grade with straight A's! He received 2 awards, one was a Presidential Award which recognized maintaining above a 3.5 GPA and receiving high test scores on the standardized tests they have to take and the other was an Excellence Award for having a 4.0 GPA throughout 8th grade! I am so incredibly proud of him!! He is excited to start high school. He will be playing football and has been training since school let out! Way to go son!!!

Small Update...

Hey everyone! I wanted to get a quick post out and let everyone know that Adair is doing well. He will be starting a new treatment plan tomorrow. No more 6 day stays in the hospital. From now on he will be getting chemo every Thursday! I'm hoping he tolerates it well. We'll see... I posted some pics of the kids and what we've been up to lately. Just trying to stay busy and keep the kids busy so they don't drive us crazy! :)

So last night I sat down and wrote a little something and when I was getting ready to post it, I deleted it on accident! It was late and I was tired and frustrated so I thought I'd try again this morning. :)

The jist of the post was that Adair is back in the hospital since Monday doing another round of chemo. He is very bummed out because Kaleb is graduating 8th grade on Friday and he will miss it. The pics I posted yesterday are from Saturday. We went to the Relay for Life in Modesto and then took the kids to the park. I was very proud of my hubby. We walked about 4 laps at the relay and that is a big deal because Adair usually sleeps in until about noon and we left the house at 8:00 am so I think most of the morning he was sleep-walking! :) Overall, I think Adair is doing great, physically at least. As you can see in the pictures, he really enjoyed the park. He loves getting out of the house. We just have to be careful that he doesn't get TOO much sun.

Adair had a CT scan on Monday. We don't have the results yet but I am hopeful that it will look good. His HCG level was still pretty low so I'm glad his blood counts were good enough for him to get chemo, gotta hit that cancer while it's down!! He should be home Sunday! I can't wait, I miss him. You would think I'd be used to this by now but I'm not, it's actually getting harder! He should be home!!!

Thanks again to everyone who continues to read these posts. I love that people are still praying for my husband. We appreciate it more than you know! Honestly, I have to admit that I can't wait until I no longer have to post anything because that would mean my husband is cured and we are so busy living our lives that I forget all about this blog! Wouldn't that be great? I think so... :)

Adair Is Home!!

Adair was finally discharged from the hospital yesterday. It was a long week without him home. So far his only complaint with this round of chemo is being extremely tired. I'm hoping he will sleep in late today since there's nobody poking and prodding him. The hard part will be keeping the kids quiet! :/ I've got my work cut out for me...

Geez, sorry once again for the many days that have passed since the last post. I don't know what's wrong with me, I've kinda been in a funk...

Adair had a doctors appointment today and I am very happy to say that this is the first week since JANUARY that he didn't need blood and/or platelets!! That is exciting because it means that his bone marrow is starting to bounce back a little faster. He will be going in on Monday for his next round of chemo. Please keep him in your prayers, being admitted to the hospital is really hard for him. He feels like a prisoner (and the food is awful)!!

On a total side note, the pictures are from a recent trip to Monterey. I can't wait to go back. Anywhere near the ocean would be wonderful!! Someday Adair will have his dream realized and we will live on the coast. Ahhhh...heaven............

Crazy Day...

Today has not been the best for my Dair. He woke up this morning with pain in the back of his leg (behind his knee) and the insertion site for his PICC line. Poor thing was hobbling around all day. Now he has a low grade fever. His white count was SUPER low the other day so I hope he doesn't end up sick. I will keep a careful eye on him tonight and see what we're going to do in the morning. It may be an Easter Sunday spent in the hospital! :( Hopefully, he'll be fine and we can spend the day with the family at my sister's house. Easter egg hunt and good food, what more can you ask for?!

Well, I will update if anything changes. I hope everyone has a great Easter!
