Well today was a sad day for me... I had to leave my hubby and come home. It was really hard because today he was officially put into isolation. This means he's in the room alone and cannot leave it! Can you imagine? Staring at the same 4 walls for days on end. It's like a prison sentence!
Physically, Adair is doing well, at least better than we thought he would be at this point! His mouth is getting really sore now so he is unable to eat. They will start liquid nutrition through his IV tomorrow. Physical therapy came in yesterday and taught him some exercises he could do in the room to keep up his strength. That's going to be really important if he wants to get discharged ASAP. The doctors said that he will probably be in the hospital until at least day +21. Ugh...
Adair absolutely hates being in the hospital! It really has started taking it's toll on him emotionally. He wants to come home so badly. He asks every nurse and doctor that comes to his room "what can I do to get out of here!" It's heartbreaking but it will be well worth it once it's over with!! I can't wait to have my husband back!!
To end this post, I will share what I think is a funny story... I must look pretty ragged right now (no, I will not post a pic :)!) because Adair's roommates mother thought that I was Adair's mother!!! Can you believe it! Extreme Makeover - I NEED YOU!! :) Adair was getting an x-ray so his roommate, roommates mom, and myself stepped out into the hallway. "Mom" started chatting with me and I was telling her that I had to go home to my kids today. She said "oh, how many others do you have?" I didn't understand so I said "I have 4 children" then she says "wow, where does he fit in, is he your oldest?" "Uh, no he's my husband!!" She tried to blame the masks we have to wear for not knowing how old I was, however, we were in the hallway with no masks on when she said it!! The funniest part was that I was in the bathroom helping Adair with his shower about an hour earlier and she told me that she thought it was really weird that I was in the shower room with my adult son!! Lord help me cause I do feel like I've aged at least 12 years over the last 9 months!! Hopefully 2009 will be a rejuvenating year! :)
