Transplant Day - "Day Zero"

Yea!!! Adair just got his stem cells about an hour ago. That was so exciting to me, I can't tell you!! I felt like I was watching life flow back into his body! (Well I guess it wasn't that dramatic, but you know how I can get!) It took so long to get those suckers out but it only took about 25 minutes to put them back! There were 5 bags total.

Adair tolerated it really well. It's funny, one of the side effects of the preservative they use when they freeze the cells is that it gives off a funny smell like tomato soup! I keep getting a whiff of it and the "Campbell's Tomato Soup, Possibilities..." song pops into my head! :) They said that could last a few days!

So looking ahead, the next 2 weeks could be pretty difficult for Adair. The longer term side effects of this treatment are mouth sores, skin breakdown, nausea, diarrhea and of course possible infection! Hopefully in about 2 weeks his body will be producing enough white cells on it's own to correct all of that! Adair is being vigilant with his mouth care and we just got up and walked for the second time today. (He was leaving me in the dust by the way!!!) I'm so proud of him! He amazes me sometimes! I love my husband!

Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers... :) Here are a few pics from today.

Cute calendar Adair's nurse made for him! Looks just like him!!

New catheter that was put in this morning. The rash is caused by the chemo! :(

LIFE SAVING CELLS!!!

Refuses to smile for the camera! He thinks I'm crazy!! :)
